Hold Fast Baby Plate
Hold Fast Baby Plate from D. E. McNicol, Liverpool, Ohio. 8 1/4" diameter; ca. 1890's-1920's. In 1892, Daniel McNicol established the D.E. McNicol Pottery Co. in East Liverpool, Ohio. They made yellow ware, Rockingham and semi-vitreous dinnerware. In 1902, a second plant was opened that specialized in Rockingham and yellow ware. A third plant was added in 1914 in Clarksburg, W.Va. followed by another in East Liverpool around 1919, for a total of four operations. At that time, they began producing hotel ware, toilet ware and cream ware. The Clarksville plant made white semi-vitreous china, both decorated and undecorated, for railroads, hospitals and restaurants. By 1929, the West Virginia plant was the only one operating. It closed in 1954.

By 1875 Swift moved to Chicago and incorporated his business. Unable to obtain refrigerator cars from railroads to ship his products East, Swift designed and patented several mechanisms and built his own refrigerated cars. 1900 found him expanding his business to England and adding soap to his product line. By 1925 Swift had added butter and other dairy products as well as various soaps and cleansers to his already successful meat and lard products.13 1/2\" tall x 12\" diameter. Excellent condition.

Swans Down Cake Flour Cake Pan. Excellent condition. Levi Igleheart started with a sawmill in 1933, then moved to milling grain. He was soon joined by his brothers and the business became Igleheart Brothers, Millers. Swans Down Cake Flour came to be in 1894 when Levi\'s nephew Addison discovered a new way to mill flour that made it perfect for cake baking. The flour was so soft and fluffy that it was named Swans Down. Igleheart Brothers became part of General Mills in 1926 and Swans Down cake flour is still made to this day.

Anchor Brand Clothes Wringer by Lovell Mfg. Co. of Erie, PA. Melvin Newton Lovell left home at age 17 in 1861 to serve the Union during the Civil War. After the war he worked as a carpenter before he patented several inventions in 1869 and began manufacturing items such as the Anchor Clothes Wringer. Wringer spools are cracked with age, but still turn when cranked and would get the job done! Excellent condition for age.

Antique mop bucket & wringer made by Ely Mfg Co of Girard, PA. The company was founded by Theo. J. Ely in 1867, originally making wooden mop buckets, handles, buggy whips, and other such items. Ely's company eventually became part of EMSCO Group which is still in the manufacturing business today. Bucket has a bit of rust on the inside that does not affect the overall integrity. Mop wringer still moves freely and is excellent working condition.

Settimio Soprani Accordians were only made for about 12 years. After working with his 3 brothers building accordians for several years, Settimio Soprani opened his own studio in Italy in 1885. By WWI Soprani\'s business was expanding overseas, under the management of his son Mario. A new plant, called Settimio Soprani, was opened in 1936 and prior to Italy entering WWII, 1000 accordians per month were being shipped to the U.S. After Mario\'s death around 1948, management of the company fell to his son Paolo who changed the company name and eventually merged the business with 2 other accordian makers. 19 1/2\" x 15 1/2\". Gorgeous antique wrought iron piano stool. Twisted and intricately embellished wrought iron base with mahogany wood seat by Tonk of New York & Chicago. German born Max Tonk immigrated to the U. S. with his family in 1857 where he worked in his uncle's piano and organ factory. It was here that he learned to embellish the instruments through carving.
